Halloween...

It's Halloween today. I have never liked Halloween, even though my birthday was yesterday and growing up it was always celebrated with a Halloween theme. Churches have alternative things for the kids to do...Trunk or treat from their cars, Hallelujah Night, what ever it may be called. I just don't think we need alternative things for our children to do. It's an evil night, the history behind it is evil..so why would we have alternative things for our kids to do? We give our children the sense that they are missing out on something when we have alternatives to something the world offers that is so evil and full of the occult... It was hard as a parent to know what to do and what to let my children do, as far as the day was concerned.

I went to Disneyland the day before my birthday to celebrate my daughter's birthday with my brother and youngest granddaughter. It was decorated beautiful for fall..as well as the ghosts and goblins. I don't know if I have ever seen Disneyland decorated this much for Halloween before. It's become this huge holiday...I don't get it.

My four grand girlies dress up..One is a Jedi Knight, Hannah Montana, Princess Belle and Tinkerbell. They look adorable and they have no idea what sort of things go on in the occult world around them this day and night.
All the while the enemy delighting in what Christians are doing today as an alternative. It's still his day...

So, for now I will pray that all will be well around all the "little one's" out there tonight. This is just my two cents worth..and thought I would share it today.

It is hard to know what to do. So far we've just ignored the whole day as much as possible, but I don't know that we will always do that. We have been praying about how we can reach out to our neighbors on this day when they actually come knocking on our door, but we haven't really come up with anything concrete yet. Anyway, thanks for your two cents!

As for tonight, we will turn out the porch light and will watch Luther as we usually do...afterall this is the anniversary of the Reformation today (not that too many people really know that)!

I'm totally with you on this post. My own children only trick or treated one year and my grandchildren never have. I made goodie bags for my 4 little neighbor kids and delivered them mid afternoon. You are so correct that it is not good.

Happy Birthday! Can't believe that it is Nov. 1 already. Time to get the pilgrims out and decorate. I love Thanksgiving themes.

Sweet birthday blessings (albeit late) for birthday, dear lady. :o)

I despise Halloween. Instead...

It was raining cats, dogs, squirrels and hummingbirds where I am. I made New England Clam Chowder, tossed a salad and baked some biscuits. Charlotte and her parents came over and we so enjoyed their fellowship (and supping with them for the evening.

Happy (belated) Birthday!! We went to Disneyland the day after you--to celebrate Merritt's first b-day. : )

You make some good points. Hubby wasn't ready to let go of the fun of that day, as we both grew up with it, but our kids only know it as a dress-up day: an opportunity to wear fun costumes (nothing occult in nature) and a chance to get candy they don't get often the rest of the year. I hope someday that eventually we can back off on even that much, but for now that was my best compromise.

Patti, you've been tagged. :-) See my blog for more info. I hope you'll do this, as I'd love to know more about you.
